Digital OrthophotosDigital orthophotos are obtained by combining data on the aircrafts trajectory and the orientation of the camera with digital terrain models of the surveyed area. The first phase is the georeferencing of the images to an accuracy of less than 2 pixels. The second phase removes the altimetric distortion error and produces an orthophoto with the same plano-altimetric characteristics as a map. The result obtained from a mosaic of orthophotos is an orthophoto map. The Orthophotos are subjected to quality control and accuracy checks to ensure that they are of the required quality.
Digital Terrain Models (DTM)DTMs are digital planimetric models of the terrain obtained by analysing and then classifying the points cloud recorded by the Laser Scan system. This produces a 3D model of the ground where all points falling on vegetation, buildings and anthropic structures have been removed. The models can be processed further, for example to ensure their “hydraulic consistency”. This is the flow of water along their steepest slope. False inputs can also be removed. The models could be simplified to obtain products with a comparable statistical value, for example the “Model Key Points”. In order to verify the planimetric validity and accuracy of the digital models produced, Helica carries out a final ground check over areas and points of reference and control. These points are then used by the client for the final validation of the product.
3D RenderingIn recent years, 3D models of surveyed areas have become an important dataset in studying the terrain. It is a fast growing area of activity thanks to an increase in the processing power of commercial computers which has expanded their potential use. Where required, models can be created from photogrammetric information, from LiDAR images, from LiDAR ground images or from a combination of this information, exploiting the advantages and special features of each technology. Depending upon the needs of the Project, the models can be put together as either digital films simulating “a flight” on a pre-defined trajectory, or as complete models delivered together with the viewing and data processing software. It is also possible to create prototype plastic models of the area to any scale required.
Hyperspectral ImagesThis is the new frontier of the sector. The images surveyed can be analysed from a different perspective due to the ability to scientifically analyse the “spectral signature” of the imagery photographed.Thermal ImagesThese enable an analysis of the temperature characteristics to be carried out from a distance over an area, a building or a specific zone, allowing a thermal survey to be done over large areas. Its main applications are in preventing fires and the analysis of pollution and heat dispersion. |
